Aquaculture is the breeding and harvesting of fish, shellfish and algae, in both saltwater and freshwater environments. Canadian Aquaculture occurs primarily in Maritime provinces, in the east, and British Columbia in the west, where Salmon, Oysters, Clams and Mussels are produced. Ontario and Quebec primary produce Trout. Salmon and Mussels are the two largest aquaculture species produced in Canada.
